Before the setup of a pilot project of 5 centres in 2011, a delegation of 3 people from FAIR visited NICE to prepare the project.
Indgangen til et mindre NICE-kontor ved Nkhata Bay. NICE er landsdækkende i Malawi og har igennem mere end et årti stået til rådighed for folkeoplysning, såsom demokrati- og HIV/AIDS-kampagner. På alle kontorene findes et lille bibliotek, og man kan læse dagens aviser. NICE opfordrer desuden civilsamfundet til at etablere egne fokusgrupper og stiller sine lokaler til rådighed for aktiviteterne - lidt lige som et dansk medborgerhus.
